M2-PK: Kinetic characteristics

Pyruvate kinase type M2-PK can occur in a tetrameric form with a high affinity for its substrate phosphoenolpyruvate and in a dimeric form with a low affinity for phosphoenolpyruvate.

Metabolic intermediates and oncoproteins regulate the tetramer : dimer ratio of M2-PK (PKM2).
